Who are the Friends?

The Friends of the Great Hall and Archive of St. Bartholomew's Hospital was established in order to preserve all that is valuable in the heritage of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and to ensure the North Wing and its Great Hall become more accessible and usable for educational, cultural and celebratory events, whilst promoting friendship, appreciation and enjoyment for those treasures.

Started by a small collection of medical alumni to fill the void left after the Trust appointed reference group tasked with the protection of the future of these historic buildings was disbanded, this circle of friends grew to form a central committee. Now in its third year, The Friends have expanded to attract a following of over 400 like-minded individuals, many of whom  have trained or worked at Barts but also those who are familiar with the buildings, archives and artisitic treasures that are housed there. This growing number are unified by their singular wish to see that the heritage at The Barts site is appropriately preserved for future generations.
